Over the last 9 years we have participated in a variety of projects, ranging from large commercial schemes, to house extensions and loft conversions. We have selected a few projects to illustrate the variety of our work. These cover the entire project cycle from concept to practical completion. Whatever your construction design requirements, we have the experience necessary to provide a professional and personal service.
The project involved rebuilding a workshop after a fire. The client required a garden building to provide a multitude of functions, landrover workshop, garden room, shower and changing facilities adjacent to a hot tub, along with a studio/storage mezzanine. The overall size and shape of the building was to match the previous building. The exterior is clad in a fireproof cementicious board with slate tiling to the roof. The windows and doors are all in oak, providing a traditional accent in keeping with the1940's house it supplements. While completing the interior fit-out, the client decided to convert the workshop into additional studio space.
This former industrial site in the heart of Faversham's Victorian conservation area preseneted a unique set of constraints on its redevelopment. A single Victorian house at the front of the site was retained and extended to form 2 flats. The long 9m wide site behind provided enough room for 2 semi-detached houses. Glazing was oriented to prevent overlooking of gardens to the sides while large south facing windows and extensive roof lights provide a light and airy feel to the interior. The south facing roof is a "Solar Sail", angled for optimum solar capture. With its entire surface covered with Solar panels the houses are effectively Carbon Negative. The North facing roof slope has a modular green roof, minimising visual impact to the adjacent gardens. Due to the restricted access "Rockpanel" cladding was chosen for minimal maintenance.
The design brief for this terraced house extension required the addition of 2 bedrooms, an extended kitchen / family room to the rear of the ground floor, with utility room and a workshop to the front. A previous planning application had been refused due to its lack of "visual amenity". After developing a scheme which met the client's needs while addressing the objections raised to the previous scheme, pre-planning advice was sought. This resulted in minor amendments to the scheme which retained the proposed layouts. The scheme has been submitted to planning for approval.
The Building lies on a prime retail site, and the corner of Castle Street and Ashford High Street. The Ground floor is ocupied by retail premises, while the 1st and 2nd floors were rented as offices. The site is efectively 3 buildings, with a combination of masonry and timber frame construction. The existing street level access and staircase were retained, with internal walls moved where structurally possible to form 4 flats. With the building in a conservation area, no changes were permitted to the street facing facade. Consequently the layouts placed all the kitchens and bathrooms to the rear of the building, avoiding the need for drain pipes on the front of the building. The roof and floors were rebuilt, adjusting levels and using a scissor truss roof construction to optimise head height on both floors.

Part of a large redevelopment of several town houses into boutique apartments, this carved brick Victorian Facade was to be retained. Movement during the construction process, damaged the facde beyond economic repair. The entire decorative outer layer of the facade was surved and drawn, with every brick numbered and drawn in detail. The original decorative brickwork was then removed and re-built from ground up, to reproduce the original facade exactly.

This project involved a concept for individual chapels of contemplation, set within a garden of rememberance. Each structure houses an elevated platform with a simple stone alter and seat. The space is lit by a tall narrow window allowing views to the garden and a stained glass lantern above. The structure's base is surrounded by a waterfall, backed with mirror finish stainless steel. They appear to float above ground, accessed by steps to a raised platform winding between them.
The waterfall below, Limestone cladding, and a flame patterened stained glass lantern represent the three primary elements,
Fire, Earth and Water.
